Just like system memory, memory on a graphics card dictates how efficiently it can handle larger workloads.

Typically, the memory on a graphics card cannot be changed; it's permanently fixed to the card. However, some graphics cards are built into a computer's motherboard, allowing a portion of system memory to be dedicated to only the graphics card.

Changing the amount of dedicated video memory can only be done by accessing the BIOS (Basic Input/Output System), which is the system used for configuring motherboards.

Instructions:

1:
    Restart your computer.
 
2:
     Open the BIOS by pressing the appropriate keyboard key when the system is starting up. This varies with every motherboard; refer to the manual or the manufacturer's website.

3:
    Look for a menu item that references hardware or video memory. Use the keyboard to navigate. There is a navigation legend located in every section of the BIOS to assist you. Reference the motherboard manual or the manufacturer's website if you can't find the appropriate setting.
 
4:
     Adjust the amount of video memory. You will be limited by the motherboard; it has a number of preset memory amounts to choose from. These cannot be altered.

5:
     Save settings and exit the BIOS.
