How to Auto Detect a Graphics Card
Do you like this story?
One of the most common reasons for a graphics card not being detected is due to improper BIOS settings. Preconfigured OEM computer systems and new user-built systems commonly have motherboards that are set to boot from an onboard graphics chipset. Setting a computer to automatically detect an installed graphics card is an easy process that virtually any computer user can accomplish.
Instructions:
1:
Restart your computer.
2:
Press the BIOS entry key when prompted on the monitor. This key is usually the "F1" or "Delete" key.
3:
Use the down arrow key to move through the first menu presented to you until you find the "Graphics" or "Video" heading.
4:
Press the right arrow key to change the value for this heading from "Onboard" to "Auto." This will set the computer BIOS to automatically detect an installed graphics card. If one is not installed, it will revert to onboard graphics.
5:
Press the "F10" key to save these changes and reboot the computer.
