If you enjoyed the excellent Portal and Portal 2 on consoles and desktops, chances are you'll enjoy 7HE Code (The Code). This is a puzzle based ipad game where you must navigate a way out of 18 rooms presented to you in the E.N.I.G.M.A 3D training simulation program. Instead of using portals, you have a range of objects at your disposal, and the main goal is to find a 3-digit code and a symbol to help your escape.

These symbols are fairly easy to find at first but they become increasingly difficult as the rooms get much bigger. The codes can be a difficult prospect to crack but using clues in each room, some direct, some very obscure, you'll eventually find the solution but it's a very testing process and you'll need to think outside the box from time to time.

Like Portal, this is a first person puzzler as players use the twin virtual joysticks on screen to manoeuvre and decipher. The 3D environments are good though a little blocky and vector-ish at times with some much better than others, but the puzzles themselves offer a fantastic challenge and it's all about training your eyes and using logical reasoning.

7HE Code takes the puzzle genre in a new direction for iPad and other mobile devices and offers a good Portal-like experience. It's a very clever game and the 18 rooms provide a good-sized challenge without becoming laboured and the difficulty curve is a nice, smooth one.

Verdict: The story, while nothing mind blowing, is still engaging and although there is room for some improvement in overall gameplay and graphics, 7HE Code is a very good puzzler game for iPad.
