Shark Dash For iPad Review

Gameloft strikes again. Yes, we know they make games that have a lot in common with other popular titles, and yes the base concept of
Shark Dash is very similar to many other physics based puzzlers. But this is a charming, cute, challenging puzzle game with originality - and a whole lotta fun!

The base game and story set up is much like that of every physics puzzler, set up with images and an introduction of what is to come by launching an object from A to B through all sorts of crazy scenarios. In this game, Sharkee and his toy shark friends were happily living life until those crazy rubber duckies started teasing the sharks, playing pranks on them and even shark-napping Sharkee's girlfriend, Sally.
The stage is now set to get Sally back by taking down the rubber duckies through a series of levels that take place in the bathtub. Full of obstacles and various other items, the idea is to move your shark around the tub by tapping and ragging his tail, then shooting him like a rubberband. If you land outside of the tub or on an item that keeps your shark out of the water for too long then you will be ducked and have to play the level again.
The ducks are usually floating in soap bubbles or trapped under the tub by items. Once these bubbles have been popped or the items moved out of the way, the ducks will swim up to you and turn into food. Once you get all the ducks, the level is complete. The idea is to dispose of the ducks, collect coins, and finish the level in the fewest jumps possible to earn three stars. These are, of course, used to unlock more of the 96 levels on offer.
It's easier said then done as each item in the tub behaves differently - from bars of soap easily pushed out the way to air bubbles that hold items up, while bath salts maintain a solid state until they hit the water and dissolve. New items are always added to keep you on your toes and, surprisingly, the gameplay maintains a freshness with these varying elements at play.
The hardest part of this game is completing the levels in the recommended number of moves. Each level has a title card suggesting the number of moves to complete the level and requiring a great deal of strategy. Levels are set out in certain way so that if you shoot the shark in just the right manner, you will trigger a chain reaction annihilating all the ducks. It's gets increasingly harder but the reward is satisfying and becomes quite addictive.
