iOS 7 Concept Features Quick Settings, Redesigned App Switcher & More [Video]
Do you like this story?
UI Designer André Luis Moreira has created an iOS concept, where he
has re-imagined some aspects of the Apple’s mobile operating system with
features such as Quick Settings, redesigned app switcher, dynamic
preferences etc. which he hopes will make to iOS 7.
Moreira had created the concept back in September, but he has recently updated it for iPhone 5′s 4-inch screen.
Quick Settings:
Quick Settings is a SBSettings-like page, which will give users quick access to the Settings toggle swiping on the Home and Lock screen or by shaking the iOS device while in an app. So just like SBSettings (which is our favorite jailbreak tweak), you don’t have to go through the hassle of exiting the app and launching the Settings app to enable or disable a toggle.
It also gives a user quick access to the music controls, which is currently accessible via the app switcher.
Moreira says he was inspired by Siri’s information screen. It looks quite similar to the Settings panel available in Android, which is accessible via the Notification Center or tapping on the Settings icon on the Home screen.
You will also be able to edit the Quick Settings page to add or remove a toggle and also change their order.
Redesigned App Switcher:
Moreira has also re-imagined the app switcher. In the concept, he shows how the app switcher should be accessible by swiping up at the bottom like the Zephyr jailbreak tweak.
When you swipe up further using the grabber, it displays the fullscreen preview of the app just above the row of icons in the app switcher, similar to the Web OS Cards-style multitasking interface.
Dynamic Preferences:
Instead of accessing the preferences for an app via the Settings app, the concept shows how the preferences can be accessed by swiping to the left in the app switcher tray while using an app.

I liked the idea behind this concept. While
there are apps and games that allow you to configure the preferences
within the app, there are quite a few apps where we need to go to the
Settings app to change the preferences. It is neither intuitive nor is
it efficient. The concept handles both these issues quite well.
In addition to the three major features
mentioned above, the concept also covers security features such as the
ability to set a passcode for Power off to prevent someone from turning
off your iPhone and the ability to reset the passcode using Apple ID.
You can check out the video of the iOS 7 concept below:
Do I want to see these features in iOS 7?
It doesn’t feel Apple-esque, but I hope some of the ideas behind the
concept make it to Apple’s next generation mobile operation system,
especially the ability to quickly access Settings toggles without
leaving the app and from the Lock screen. One thing is certain, Apple needs to re-imagine the iOS and iOS 7 seems like the make it or break it moment, at least for the power users.
