Cubed Rally Racer: Best for RC nostalgics
Remember arcade classics such as Championship Sprint and Badlands? They
captured the feel of steering a remote-control car, where you needed a
keen sense of direction to steer it correctly, regardless of which way
it was facing. This cute racer harks back to those days, but it has
distinctive cuboid visuals, entirely randomly generated track layouts
and a rally theme that means you're racing against the clock rather than
other cars. Fiddly controls, you say? Pfah! That's half the point!

Football Manager Handheld
Sega's portable football manager has a few killer updates this year. Manage up to four countries at once, play loads of formations and take close control of players. Great for lovers of the genre.
Super Stickman Golf
As much a physics puzzler as a sports game. There's Wi-Fi multiplayer and unlockable super clubs, letting you freeze water hazards or stick your ball to the ceiling (though that's cheating where we come from).
Backbreaker 2: Vengeance
An adrenaline-drenched app that sees you as on an American footballer attempting to sprint the field, avoiding tacklers and obstacles. New modes include Vengeance and Showboat, the former allowing you to turn the tables and tackle opponents, the latter giving you the option to show off in the end zone, but at the expense of speed. The eye-popping graphics and responsive controls are a cut above the rest.
Best iPhone Strategy Games
An extremely slick adaptation that will have ardent
pacifists plotting schemes of world domination.
Proper online play is an annoying omission, but
this remains an immense strategy game.

It certainly looks twee, but there's an immensely deep and
challenging game under its cute exterior.
The presentation is nothing special, but the gameplay and
online modes are sublime.
It certainly looks pretty, but tricky controls and bland
missions make for an average experience.
A gem once you get into it, but not the most accessible of
strategy games.
It's a little rough around the edges, but there's a
massive amount of gameplay here.
It's pricey, but this is a very polished RTS from the clone
kings at Gameloft.

Modern Combat: Sandstorm - Best iphone game for modern combatants
Tool up and ship out into the virtual battlefield, ready to make your
way, guns blazing, through 10 Middle Eastern environments, from labs and
sewers to hospitals and cities. Its accurate control system, sharp
graphics, fast-paced action and unusually smart enemies all contribute
to an immersive gameplay experience. Local and online multiplayer top
off the package and make it undeniably great value and one of the top
handheld FPS games.
Overall,
this game is a nice change of pace and brings back fun memories. With slightly
awkward controls, but a simplistic game design, you get an app that lives up to
the publisher's name: Killing Time Apps.
With a more
cartoonist approach, Gamelion Studios does a great job of enhancing the 3D
playing field. The smooth game-play and overall appealing plot give you an
opportunity to play a solid game—and it's free!
The
bottom line is that this is a well-polished game that can keep you entertained
for hours, but the progress is dictated by money. Thankfully, the game is free
and the "freemium" elements are nonintrusive.
Out
of all the zombie games out there, this one does a great job of immersing the
user in a fast-paced, plot-driven, zombie-filled, FPS experience.
